Cakes and desserts with style for the modern chic bride
It may only have been 8am when I started writing this blog post but I definitely had a distinct desire for some sugary delightfulness from boutique directory members Monannie Cakes immediately on seeing these images, captured beautifully by fine art photographer Maxeen Kim, and styled to perfection by wedding planner and stylist Alexandra Rose Weddings.
I’ll hand over to this gorgeous couple to tell us more about their designs and the business of making wedding cakes and desserts.
One of my favourite aspects of this job is creating delicious, bespoke desserts. As my repertoire expanded, we decided that a styled dessert and cake shoot would be the perfect way to inspire our couples; think beautiful and luxurious meets delicious! Incredible flavours, and fantastic design, our handcrafted cakes and confectionery are designed to delight all of your senses. We know how important the little touches are to completing your special day. Appearances, smells and flavours can leave powerful lasting impressions. We work alongside couples, providing concepts, sketches, flavour profiles, a special tasting experience and most importantly, a kind, compassionate and listening ear. We see each cake and confectionery project as an extension our clients- everyone is special to us. We are, and always will be, passionate about creating beauty together with our couples. All our products are made from scratch with the finest ingredients.
My vision for the photoshoot was to display our desserts in a romantic and elegant manner, incorporating modern and vintage with various floral elements. Specially hand crafted sweet sugar, fresh sponges and painted surfaces. Hints of copper and gold and touches of delicate pretty edible miniature flowers, special touches we love to add to each and every single dessert. That’s pretty much in keeping with the MonAnnie style… A beautifully sunny day at Grovefield House provided the perfect setting to capture everything we needed, tucked away in 7 acres of secluded gardens. A private and intimate setting, combined with scenic gardens and terrace, made it the perfect Windsor venue and backdrop. Their gorgeous greenery and purple hued garden flowers are reflected in our colour palette used for the table setting and edible goods. The colour palette for the day included blush pinks, lavender, green gold and rose gold. We selected a range of desserts to create as we love variety, and wanted to offer something for everyone’s taste buds. Our chosen treats were mini raspberry Panna Cotta, refreshing Lemon Meringue Tarts, Raspberry and Pistachio Macarons, mixed Berry Crumbles, Eclairs oozing with white chocolate mouse and coated in a decadent dark chocolate glaze. Moist Lemon Drizzle Bundt cakes decorated with edible flowers and an assortment of filled chocolates including raspberry liqueur and banana caramel. Our signature white chocolate shell filled cups, rich chocolate cake and vanilla Swiss Meringue buttercream. Not to mention the mouth-watering raspberry ganache, luscious vanilla cupcakes, and finally our fluffy raspberry marshmallows-a real crowd pleaser.
Alexandra Rose Weddings brought our vision to life with beautiful blooms including Freesias, Classic Roses, Stocks, Veronica and fluffy white Chrysanthemums. Using some beautifully selected crockery- vintage candelabras, ornate dishes, geometric vases, and plush silk linen, she really brought elegance to the shoot.
The stunning floral stationery by Belopaperie was a fantastic addition which complemented the piped buttercream flowers on our cupcakes beautifully. The wiz behind the lens is Maxeen Kim who brought everything together with breath-taking Fine Art imagery and composition.
I can’t thank the team behind this vision enough. It’s a celebration of all of us- not just MonAnnie Cakes. We really hope that seeing this would fill couples and professionals with fabulous ideas for mouth-watering treats for their wedding.
